BraAgas

will inspire you with their splendid vocals and make you dance to the rhythm of their songs!

This ladies band from Prague interprets old traditional songs from all Europe. In their repertoir you can listen songs from Pyrenean peninsula (sephardic, galician), songs from Provensal, Scandinavia or seculars medieval songs from central Europe. Also they like to inspirate their music with influences of oriental and balkan rythms.

 braAgas

BraAgas use replicas of old instrumentes, which gives to their music a little exotic expression. As instance we can name cister, fiddle, shawns, chalumeaux, different knids of flutes and recorders and oriental percussion, as davul, darbuka, daf, riq and others. There is no question, that the best quallity of BraAgas are their strong and colorful vocals, which give to their music brilliant harmonies and typical sound.

BrAgas plays together only since January 2007, but all members have large experiences with this music genre from their previous projects. In short time of their activity, they have already played many concerts in the Czech republic around Europe. The band became a winner of Česká spořitelna Colours Talents 2009 music competition and was nominated for Czech music award Anděl 2009 in world music category for its last CD called Tapas.

„…this female quartet, picking up bagpipes, guitars, shawms, mandolins and tambourines, and combining their voices and energies toward a youthful, animated musical vision. While their sound rests firmly in the wider Balkan echoes of Roma music, the band also makes direct nods to the dynamic music of Al-Andalucia and Scandinavian folk-rock revivalists Garmana and Värttinä. And they put it all together with a unique Czech drum beat.“
